Let’s admit it. When you planned to buy your new phone you were too excited. You couldn’t sleep thinking of it. You were imagining as if you already got it.
Then, real happiness came because finally, the dream turned into a reality. You’ve got your new phone. You posted it on Facebook and Instagram. You’ve got many likes and hearts. You cleaned it every day. You bought a nice casing. And happiness was real.
After a few months, the new phone is advertised. More features, more storage, improved camera shot.
Now, what happens to your old phone? It doesn’t make you happy anymore. You no longer feel the joy it brought. You want something new.
Happiness is not about having more and wanting more. It’s about appreciating the things you already have.
Happiness is in our mind. It’s about your perspective. It’s about being thankful to God for everything you possess.
When you were stuck in traffic, It’s your choice whether to get pissed off or not. It’s your choice to pick your phone and listen to good vibe music.
Look at your old phone, old car, old clothes, old shoes. You can bring back the happiness you felt before by appreciating these things.
For me, it’s not that bad to wanting more especially if you really need it. What’s worse is we no longer appreciate the things we possess that we have wished before. And we are no longer thankful to God with the things He has provided.
Contentment and peace of mind are non-material things that really make us happy. So be thankful.
