Pizza Delivery Man Yells at Woman for Only Tipping $5: Video

Although tipping could be considered a choice in the realm of food delivery services, a recent incident involving a DoorDash driver suggests otherwise.

Lacey Purciful, a resident of Kempner, Texas, gained widespread attention when she shared a TikTok video. This video captures an interaction with a DoorDash delivery driver who took issue with her perceived lack of generosity in tipping.

The video, now having amassed more than 26.2 million views, features a driver named Corey. In the video, Corey remarks that Lacey resides in what he considers to be an upscale residence, all while having received what he views as an insufficient $5 tip. This confrontation escalates as Corey resorts to using offensive language to express his frustration.

@ladybug3660 My lovely Dasher Corey believes I should be tipping 50% 🤔🤡🫣🍕#doordash #doordashdriver #doordasher #doordashers #pizza #pizzalover #pizzahut #fyp #momsoftiktok #momsover30 #bigmad #rude #vivint #vivintdoorbellcamera #smile @DoorDash @DoorDash ♬ original sound – Lacey Purciful

Comment section viewers were left in astonishment by the exchange, conveying both empathy towards Purciful and incredulity towards the behavior of the delivery driver.

“Some of these people are so entitled,” expressed a commenter.

Apologizing, another commenter added, “I hope you know that most of us that do delivery services really appreciate $5 tips!”

Purciful further elucidated in the comments that the $5 tip actually accounted for a 25% gratuity on the order, in addition to covering the supplementary delivery charge and her recurring monthly DoorDash subscription fee.

In a communication provided to the local news source WFAA, DoorDash confirmed the termination of the driver depicted in the video.

“Respectfully asking for a tip is acceptable, but abusing or harassing someone is never acceptable,” DoorDash told the outlet via email. “Our rules exist to help ensure everyone who uses our platform – Dashers, customers, merchants – have a safe and enjoyable experience. We expect everyone to treat others with respect, and we will enforce our rules fairly and consistently.”

The source of Purciful’s pizza order remained undisclosed.

The viral video sparked conversation in the comment section about tipping culture in the US. Many complained the tipping culture has reached its tipping point.
