A Starbucks employee broke down in tears after being scheduled to work eight-hour shifts.
Starbucks is the worldās largest coffee chain and employs nearly 400,000 people.
According to research, the majority of Starbucks employees are satisfied with their work-life balance and do not feel burnt out.
However, one barista ā who is also a full-time student ā has gone viral after posting an emotional video calling out management.
Watch the Starbucks employee break down in tears belowā¦
Apparently, they were given a 25-hour work week, which included 8-hour shifts during the weekend.
They said that alongside the treatment from management, itās left them at their āwitās endā and that theyāre struggling to cope.
In the video, which is now circulating onĀ Twitter, the barista says: āIām a full-time student, I get scheduled for 25 hours a week.
āAnd then on weekends, they scheduled me the entire day, open to close, that oneās scheduled for eight and half hours, both Saturday and Sunday.
āIām three and a half hours into my shift.
āThereās so many customers and we have four people on the floor all day. Only five people were put on schedule and somebody had to call out.ā
They go on to claim that the managers ādonāt care about usā and ādonāt want to help usā.
Elsewhere in the clip, the student says customers are rude and often misgender them.
They add: āI donāt get accommodation for being neurodivergent, people get mad at me for having too much sick time.
āI donāt even know what to do anymore, Iām at my wits end with this job.ā
The video has been shared by far-right Trump supporter Sebastian Gorka on Twitter, who mockingly tweeted: āTrans Barrister has meltdown because 8 hours is too long to work on a dayā¦ā
Gorkaās cruel post ā which is being trolled for its embarrassing typo ā has led to many criticising the Starbucks employee.
āOh cry me a river. I drove a truck for 35 years. 12-14 hours a day,ā one person comments. āSometimes gone for a month at a time.
āSuck it up buttercup.ā
A second says: āMy husband normally works 70 hours a week and was it hard, yes but he still did it.
āThis kid needs to learn what hard work is otherwise they wonāt be able to make it.ā
However, many have taken to the comments and defended the barista, arguing that it would be difficult to do an eight-hour shift alongside educational studies.
One writes: āHeās allowed to be frustrated at Starbucks and his crappy manager not pulling their weight.
āPeople keep bringing up his eight-hour shifts but working a job on top of being a full-time student would be tiring. Heās having a vent, so what?ā
Defending the student against the haters, another says: āWow, you are so brave for bullying a young service worker.
āA full-time college student is expected to do 2-3 hours of homework per every class hour.
āSo if this kiddo is in class 15 hours a week, has 30 hours of homework, and then 25 hours of work that is a 70-hour week.ā
