I WAS IN LINE AT A COFFEE SHOP WHEN A STRANGER SAID, ‘DON’T ORDER THAT. TRUST ME.’

… I turned around, and there stood my best friend from college—someone I hadn’t seen in over ten years.

“Surprise!” she exclaimed, grinning from ear to ear. “I’ve been trying to track you down forever. When I saw you post about this coffee shop a while back, I figured it was a long shot, but I decided to hang around here on the off chance you’d show up.”

I couldn’t believe it. My mind raced with memories of all the good times we had shared, and I was speechless. The man from earlier? He was standing in the corner, giving me a knowing nod before quietly slipping out the door.

Turns out, he was her husband. She’d sent him ahead because she wanted to surprise me but didn’t want to ruin it with a direct approach. We spent the entire day catching up on life, laughing, and reminiscing like no time had passed at all.

That caramel macchiato? It’s now my new favourite order—and every time I have one, I’m reminded that life has a way of bringing people back into your life when you least expect it.
